VoIP Guest telephone without monthly basic fee
“Voice over IP” is telephony via internet. That means instead of using a normal telephone line, it’s possible to use already existing ADSL, VDSL or cable tv internet connections – without monthly basic fees!
How does it work?
1.Buy a VoIP telephone with SIP protocol
We would recommend model “SPA901” from Linksys. You can get this for example at www.digitec.ch for CHF 74.- or at www.amazon.de for EUR 45.47.
2.Open a SIP account for free
We have checked the following providers to see if they allow GOMIO.COM dial-in numbers with free accounts to be dialled:
Germany: www.sipgate.de “sipgate basic”
Italy: www.euteliavoip.com
Switzerland: www.sipcall.ce “special free”
UK: www.sipgate.co.uk choose “UK national 0870”
...for more countries look for “free SIP account” on Google
Then you will receive the phone number from the dialed country (CH 032......, DE 0180......., IT 06....., UK 0870.....) and the necessary SIP login data.
Notice: Don’t load balance on the account! As long as you account balance is zero, your phone can’t be misused for telephone calls being charged. Calls to free numbers (such as the GOMIO.COM Phonecard dial-in numbers) or Calls to members of the same network are always possible. Also your guests are able to receive calls from this phone for free.
3.Configure your new telephone
Connect your new telephone to the existing internet line (RJ45/Ethernet-Kabel) and configure the SIP account according to the provider’s information. Program the dial-in number of GOMIO.COM Phonecard on one key (e.g. Number 3).
Germany: 0800 2260022
Italien: 800 902055
Schweiz: 0800 600101
UK: 0808 1822600
etc. …
4.Configure your router
To guarantee optimal quality of conversations you have to set ‘broadband’ in the broadband management of your SIP phone router first. Therefore your network/PC support could be pretty useful.
5.The phone is ready for your guests!
Mount the telephone to a suitable place and place the poster with the introductions and rates beside it. (see below)
Click with right mouse button and go to save as.
Questions?
For any questions concerning the configuration don’t hesitate to contact the SIP provider (Sipgate, Sipcall, Eutelia). With question about the installation in the house dealing with the router’s configuration go to your network / PC seller or you internet provider.
