To enter all countries you will need a passport (except EU citizens travelling between EU countries need only an identity card). Within the countries that are part of the ‘Schengen’ agreement you may not have any border controls whatsoever, but you still need to carry you passport in case they do decide to check.

Remember to always photocopy all your documentation and keep in separate from each other in case you lose anything or it gets stolen. Needless to say, replacing a lost or stolen passport is a pain in the proverbial so it’s better if you do everything in your power to keep hold of it.
