Overall, not a bad experience. Next to a somewhat busy street, so depending on what room you get that could be an issue if you like to sleep (nothing a good set of earplugs--which should be a mainstay of any traveler-- can't take care of, though). Breakfast was very good, and the staff was super helpful and friendly. Other guests didn't make too much noise in the wee hours, but there was still a friendly and open atmosphere in the common areas. Showers in common bathrooms were ok, not great (I ran out of hot water one time, which is of course not an uncommon experience in most hostels). Bed sheets were reasonably clean, if a little worn. Again, overall, not the Ritz Carlton (and, for the price, you would be crazy to expect that!), but a pretty solid hostel in a convenient location in Arequipa. Staff will also help you with booking tours of the Canyon, although I opted for another company close by (on Jerusalen St.)

The hostel is in a great location, only a few minutes from the main plaza. I don't know if I'd come back though, very dirty and not well maintained. Bathrooms especially were filthy. Breakfast was very good.

The facilities and location were excellent, and we loved our room and clean bathroom! The only issue we had was that the staff booked a bus from Arequipa to Puno for us. We asked for a very nice bus multiple times--in English and in Spanish. They assured us that the bus was nice and clean. It was not. They booked us on a budget bus for about the same price as fellow travelers paid for a luxury bus. It was terrible--6 hours in a hot, humid bus. The windows were all fogged up from condensation (including the front window!), and the driver didn't even bother to open the door for us. It was cold outside, which could have quickly cooled the bus! We were the only tourists on the bus, the bathroom was disgusting, and we sweated for the full 6 hours. An AWFUL experience.

The first room we were given might as well have had no windows the noise from the street was so bad (the owner was clearly expecting a complaint as she already had another room prepared for us when we complained). Second room wasnt much better - couldnt use it between the hours of half 9ish and 6 because of workmen on the roof who were banging so hard light fittings started falling from the ceiling, shattering glass all over the floor.
Bathrooms were disgusting, dont know when they were cleaned last, and never any toilet roll (even after the third time we requested it).
DO NOT believe when they say the staff are friendly and speak fluent English, we constantly felt as though the guests were nothing but a burden.

we just were disappointed to not get the room we have booked and instead got a room with a sort of "view" to the street and thus it was quite loud and in addition we could smell the cars from the street.
anyway for those who dont care about comfort it will be a great place!
