History of the hosteria: In 1829 the Marquis of Solanda and Villarocha, who was the wife of Mariscal Antonio Jose de Sucre, owned these lands and it was here where they celebrated the Easter holiday of the year. In 1933 Don Miguel Angel Benalcazar, great grandson of ?the libertador? Simon Bolivar bought parts of these lands and named them ?Hacienda la Bolivia?. The famous battles that lead to the beginning of the liberation took place in these shepherd?s fields where Papagayo stands today. Boyaca, Pichincha, Carabobo, Tarqui, Ayacucho, Junin and Cotopaxi, cherish those who gave their own blood for the liberation, the Conquistadors and the Liberator.
