Information
Residencíal Rayco is a tranquil hostal on the corner of Calle Gustavo Le Paige and Calle Calama, just 2 blocks off Plaza de Armas.
Over 20 years ago, the Ramos family started the hostel in the building which they owned since the early sixties and today the hostel is still being managed by Edgardo Ramos and his wife Myriam López
Facilities...The hostel has 8 private rooms (doubles, triples and quadruples), half of which have a private bathroom. Furthermore, three dorms accommodating 7, 7, and 5 guests are available.
Dorms cost $5,000 pppn in low season and $6,000 in high season (mid December until mid March, mid June until mid August & Chilean bank holidays).
Private rooms with shared bathroom cost $13,000 ($18,000 in high season) and with private bathroom $22,000 ($27,000 high season). Flexibility is offered and triple and quadruple rooms can be organised on request.
Rooms with a private bathroom include towels and toilet paper. A fully equiped kitchen is available (coffee, water, tea, suger, salt, etc. is not included). Hot water is available between 8 am and 10 pm, but as you are in the middle of the dessert, hot water & water pressure cannot always be guaranteed (this is the case in every hostel in San Pedro de Atacama).
Laundry can be done for $1,500 per kg (ready same or next day - depending on the weather) and reception is open from 8am until 11pm (guests get a front door key for other hours). Spanish and little English is spoken.
Bike rental on new "Trek" bikes is also available from the hostel at a rate of $1,000 per hour, $3,000 for 5 hours or $5,000 for a10 hours.
Reservations in high season are recommendable and can be made by email, phone or www.gomio.com.
