YHA Greymouth Kainga-ra is nestled amongst the bush-clad hills of Greymouth, the largest town in the middle of the South Island's wild and wonderful West Coast. This 4 star Greymouth backpackers was the local Marist Brothers Residence in the 1930s and a lot of the original native wood features have been retained in the hostel to create a unique and welcoming backpacker hostel. Some quirky and spacious budget backpacker accommodation is available in the converted old Chapel and the Brothers' study room is now a comfortable lounge.
