The location is excellent for exploring edinburgh and it was extremely nice to have breakfast included and free internet.
Staff was friendly for the most part but sometimes lacking some enthusiasm in giving information on the city. |

Caledonian Backpackers
CALEDONIAN BACKPACKERS is very centrally located, and is easy to reach regardless of how you arrive in Edinburgh.
From the BUS STATION in St. Andrews Square: Walk one block to Princes Street and turn right. Continue walking along Princes Street for about 10 minutes, taking in the spectacular view of the Castle on your left : When you come to a large intersection, the street will then become Shandwick Place. At this point you will see the Abbey National Bank on the corner on your right and if you look up above it you will see the Hostel marked with a large white Backpackers banner. Entrance is on Queensferry Street.
From WAVERLEY TRAIN STATION: Princes Street is located outside if you leave by the stairs. If you leave by the ramp, turn right at the top to reach Princes Street. Once on Princes Street, turn left and follow direction as if arriving by bus.
From HAYMARKET TRAIN STATION (The closest to the hostel): Exit onto West Maitland Street and walk along on the left hand side of the road. After about a 5 minutes walk you will come to Shandwick Place and an intersection leading to Princes Street. At this point, if you look to your left, you will see the Abbey National and if you look up above it you will see the Hostel marked with a large white Backpackers banner. The entrance is on Queensferry Street just around the corner.
*Although the hostel is very close to the above points of arrival you may feel the need to take public transport. A short one-way trip on the bus will cost 50 pence - ask driver about the day ticket promotions, and a taxi no more than £2.50.
