Situated in the heart of the Dorsoduro bar scene on Campo Santa Margherita, Hotel Antico Capon is a good place to crash after one too many glasses ... Well, if you can get up the narrow, seemingly infinite stairs, that is. This modest seven-room spot is definitely for those in good health, as well as those who care little for décor. (It's a real budget operation.)

Rooms are small and done up with simple, solid-colored bedding and minimal artwork. There's a real hostel feeling to the place: backpackers come and go, and staff stay out of your way.

Bathrooms have seen the passing of the years but manage to clean up pretty well. A budget operation in every sense of the word, the Antico Capon offers a double for €45 in low season, which ain't too shabby.
