Dear travellers ...

For a true taste of Tuscany and the 'bella vita' in an authentic XIVth century setting, visit us at the Bassetto Guesthouse.

We are located in Certaldo, in the heart of Tuscany in a beautiful region of vineyards, olive groves and medieval towns.

Our family home was formerly a convent of Benedictine monks that was always open to pilgrims passing through. Most recently it was a working farm producing local wine and oil.

In 1998 we opened Fattoria del Bassetto again to travellers with the same notion of hospitality as the monks centuries ago and with ideas based on what we saw in guesthouses overseas during our own travels.

We wanted our guesthouse to be unique in terms of setting and location, a place you would want to return to at night and somewhere to relax from city tours.

Meander through landscapes sculpted by sunflowers, rolling hills and farms on foot, bicycle or mini-van. Or day trip by public transport to see the splendours of Florence, Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano and other towns which are less than an hour away.

You can try your hand in the communal kitchen with Tuscan recipes from our cooking classes, sample local wines in our cantina (wine cellar), or do little more than put your feet up by the swimming pool and enjoy the views and Tuscan life.

There is something for everyone here.

We look forward to seeing you in Certaldo.
Ciao from Dafne and her three sons, Alessandro, Francesco and Guido
