Situated at the western extremity of the Slieve League (Sliabh Liag) Peninsula in the South-West of County Donegal, lies the wonderfully remote parish of Glencolmcille (Gleann Cholm Cille/Glencolumbkille). For the hill walker, Glencolmcille is a paradise. The stunning landscape and sense of splendid isolation combine to make visiting Glencolmcille a special experience. In a landscape of timeless beauty lies the remnants of ancient past-pagan and Christian, rooted in quiet contemplation on hillside, valley, bog and isle. The Sliabh Liag (Slieve League) Peninsula, with its unique mix of breathtaking coastal scenery, rugged hills and stone-age archaeology, must be one of the most interesting walking areas in Europe. Ionad Siul is just a few minutes walk frm the village, Oideas Gael, Fr McDyer Folk Village and beaches. The area is rich in traditional music and attracts musicians especially during the summer months where nightly music sessions take place in the pubs
