The communal bathrooms smell like urine and are VERY UNCLEAN. An 8 bedroom with communal 'ensuite' is recommended (but shared amongst others) is a bit cleaner and less smelly. Don't go here if you hate hair on the floor. If you find a toilet roll, KEEP IT! There were no toilet rolls or handwash in any of the toilets...

There were no toilet rolls or handwash in any of the toilets for the entire weekend, we found a roll and kept it for ourselves! On the first day we had no hot water and were not told! Would have been better if it were sign posted so we didn't waste time trying! We were told we can go to a sister hostel for our shower so they offered an alternative. Boiler was fixed the next day and showers were good ...Important - DON'T FORGET YOUR THONGS (or flipflops as some of you call them)!!!!!!!!!!! BYO Towel too!
Beds are good but make sure you choose one with a good mattress and fold your pillow in half. Saw the cleaner make a bed for a new person and didn't change the sheets or pillow cases which is pretty gross considering people drool and sweat! Could do with a sweep and mop but was fine.
Rooms had their own pin code which was easy to use and made the rooms safe.
Kitchen was good! Had a microwave, stove, kettle and fridge with a few chairs and long tables.
Staff - everyone was excellent and friendly except one guy (who had an eastern european accent) who made it seem like we were an inconvenience. He didn't show us around properly, didn't give us the correct key for the bathroom then said he was too stressed to give us the right one (we think he was talking to a mate on the phone).
Location is excellent with a short walk to Trinity College as well as the amazing Temple Bar! Go to as many pubs there as possible. Close to O'Shea's pub, O'Connelly station and a Tesco supermarket. You can catch a bus from the Airport to O'Connelly street and it's a short walk from there costing £12 return or £7 one way.
If you are looking for somewhere with a clean bathroom, DON'T GO HERE! If you are looking for somewhere cheap and close then it's fine. We only used it for showers and a bed so it was okay. Everyone there except the guy mentioned above was really lovely and friendly and Michael Doherty is really funny!
We love the Irish!
