Jan Man 2011/12/29	The staff were fine, but the area is right next to the red light district, which seems to be a common theme for hostels in germany. Cleanliness is alright. The building needs security code to get in but no lock to get into the room so rated lower for security. For location, it's great. Staff are mostly very nice, and the hostel has a great little kitchen and common area. Too many flaws to warrant another stay though. Our room had no curtains or blinds, and when we complained about this the staff member said he'd see what could be done. We came back a few hours later and a different staff member was working and he had no idea about it, but now all the rooms were booked out, so we had bright lights and no privacy for 2 nights The shared bathrooms have lights that work on a timer. You Can be showering or using toilet and find the lights have gone Off and you're plunged into darkness. Most showers in my bathroom seemed to have no shower head, and one only a shower curtain instead of door on cubicle. Bathrooms are not gender specific, so I Think showers with curtains need a locked door instead. Hot water Tap needs to be pushed every 40 secs, great fun! Bathroom was also covered with mould and mounds of dust. Walls are pretty much paper thin. Was an experience but not one I intend to repeat, sadly. Rooms and especially lavatories would easily be made better with a few more facility things, like hooks for towels, boards for washbags and a few more chairs in the dorms. From the train station
Take the main exit, cross the large road and walk left along the old city wall - about 400 meters - to the next Underground station (or take the Underground line U2 from main station 1 stop to Opernhaus and go up the stairs in the middle of the platform). At the Underground stop, take the path through the wall and go left on Frauentormauer. The Hostel is on the right, no. 42.
From the Airport
Take Underground line U2 to Opernhaus and follow the directions above.
Coming by car
You need to come from the highway A9 take the exit "Nürnberg Fischbach" and follow always to direction Nürnberg-Zentrum (it will lead you a while through a forest). After that you drive straight on into the town. You will see a car-dealer or Citroen on your left, there at the traffic-light you have to turn right. Follow the street until you will see a bicycle-dealer named "Velo" on your left there at the traffic-light you have to turn right again and behind the tunnel turn left. Follow the street; you will pass the main train station which is on your left.  After you passed the Opera house (Opernhaus), which you will see easily on your left hand side, at the traffic-light you have to turn right and turn in the first street on your right side again, the sign says Färberplatz, and follow the street along the inner side of the wall up to  house no. 42.
