This hostel is not great...that depends to some extent on your mood, but it's not a total winner either way.

If you're feeling social, like to drink, and are with friends, it's got a bar as a lobby, that's open most of the day and late into the night (with loud music pumping the whole time). The hostel staff (aka bartenders) are fairly friendly, but it can be tough getting an internet card (you have to pay for the internet between 6pm and 8am, and it only works in the bar and the first level or two) when you're waiting for a few other people to order drinks. Still, they're pretty nice, and gave me and a couple people some free shots when we went out.
Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. If you like peace and quiet, you won't get it here. It's on a busy street with lots of traffic (and ambulances). It's crowded. Tiny stairs, tiny showers, tiny everything. Tiny toilet in the stairway...if you want soap, go to the basement/bar bathroom on the lower level.
It was clean enough, and my hostelmates were cool. But it's the kind of place that really makes you want to explore, because you can't stand to spend any more time in the hostel than you have to.

Good for one night, maybe two and only "on-the-fly". No facilities like lounge room, dvd. Kitchen very awfull :(. If you have room at last floor - no chance to go to kitchen, and back - this is 8 floors high. Wifi available, but in loud bar. Quite secure, but - no lockers. Cold rooms. I enjoyed the hostel immensely and the staff were great! We arrived and the hostel had not received an email about our booking. However, the staff went out of their way to find us a place to sleep for the night. The rooms, while small, are comfortable. Try to get a room on one of the higher floors as the bar can be noisy. Met a great group of people there. Only downside was the fire station across the road- constant blairing of fire engines throughout the night

DO NOT STAY HERE. I REPEAT, DO NOT STAY HERE. This is the worst hostel I have ever stayed at, and I've stayed at 10 in the past month. Here's why:

DO NOT STAY HERE. I REPEAT, DO NOT STAY HERE. This is the worst hostel I have ever stayed at, and I've stayed at 10 in the past month. Here's why:
1. Very Dirty
2. Electricity went out every hour each night. Though the bar they have downstairs always had power working. So while the stereo is blasting until 2am, the residents upstairs have the emergency lights on in the hallway.
3. I got stuck in the shower, it was so small. I thought the Paris fireman were going to have to get me out.
4. There is only one key into each room. If you come home at 2am, you better pray your roommate hears you knock on the door.
5. There is no elevator/lift, so if you have a large bag, have a nice time carrying it upstairs. Especially if you are on the 5th floor.
6. I thought the triple stack bunk bed was going to crumble on top of me while I was sleeping and kill me.
7. The bartender from England at night is not professional. He starts bar fights at night. The French police showed up at night on a dispute call, they should have arrested him. He was throwing beer bottles at people.
8. This same bar tender also would not give me the room keys when I came in. He kept making fun of me and yelling to the people at the bar as to whether or not I should get my keys back.
9. The neighborhood is shady.
10. The heat did not work in my room. I seriously thought I was going to freeze to death.
11. The bathrooms are so small, if you were a pregnant woman, you would not fit in them.
THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. THIS ESTABLISHMENT WOULD VIOLATE MANY US STANDARDS. PAY MORE AND MOVE ON.
GO TO "OOPS" or "ST. CHRISTOPHERS" in Paris, Trust me.
