Greenwich, London SE10 8JA

Greenwich is a tranquil sanctuary within the city limits of a hectic London. Steeped in history, science and a great naval tradition, this is a wonderful place to start your exploration. For you only know where you are when you understand where you've come from and that is Greenwich. Most easily reached by train, St. Christopher's Greenwich youth hostel is located across the street from the station; as convenient as it comes. For a more scenic route there are boat excursions riding up and down the River Thames all day long. Once you've arrived in Greenwich it's a great neighbourhood to explore on foot. A Sunday stroll to the Greenwich Markets, or a sunny day excursion to the Greenwich Pier for a tour of the Naval College and the infamous tea clipper, the Cutty Sark. On a clear day take a trip to the Royal Observatory with its many wonders, including the Prime Meridian dividing the east and west hemispheres or the Millennium Clock, which is the most accurate time piece available. For a lazy kind of day take a walk to the Greenwich Park, the oldest Royal Park dating back to 1433. Greenwich Park is also home to the Queen's House, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I. Like the neighbourhood surrounding it, St. Christopher's Greenwich offers you a true home away from home. Start with friendly international staff, mix in a cosy chill-out room, a full sized movie theatre, authentically English Bangers n' mash washed down with a crisp ale. You're only 10 minutes from the mayhem of massive queues in the heart of London. But at the end of the day you can slow everything down and have a truly relaxing evening. You've got the best of both worlds. Available only at St. Christopher's Greenwich.
