The staff were very kind and the whole place was so clean, especially the bathroom. Only two bathrooms, but if you time it right, this isnt a problem. there are travel books and movies to watch (in english) and the kitchen has everything you need & very clean.location is perfect, minus the three flights of stairs you need to take to get to the hostel, great leg workout though. Loved it! |

Directions
Old Town Hostel
FROM THE AIRPORT From the airport, jump on a shuttle bus (they are provided by both Croatia Airlines and a private company for the same price, 30 kn a person for a one way trip). It takes about 40 minutes to reach Split and the bus will drop you off near the main seafront promenade (Riva), at the end of the ferry/bus/train hub. From there just refer to the below directions. Alternatively, you can catch a taxi from the airport, but make sure to tell the cabbie to have the meter on, as occasionally tourists get overcharged. You shouldn't be paying more than 200,00 kn, heavy traffic excluded.
FROM THE MAIN FERRY PORT / TRAIN STATION / BUS STATION Walk up the main seafront promenade (Riva) towards the center (about 5 mins). Keep following the promenade until you reach the Diocletian Palace Cellars (a gate opens from the main promenade onto a wide tunnel below ground lined with souvenir and jewelry stands). Go through and you'll come out onto a big Roman style square (Peristil) with the St. Duje Cathedral and bell tower . From the square turn left and follow that street for about 150 meters (500 feet) until you see a big archway leading to a wide square with cafés, shops and restaurants (Pjaca). Take a right BEFORE the archway and walk to the top of that street - you'll see a yellow painted building with a bookstore on the ground level (red sign that reads 'Svjetska knji?ara). Our entrance is straight up that street, on the left hand side if facing the bookstore (white door).
