We would like to introduce "The Rubenshof" to you. We are Herman Christis, Hans Wijnhoven and together with chaimbermaids Mariolla Stankiewicz and Dorota Wyjadlowska, we form the staff of the hotel. The Rubenshof is a one star hotel with 22 rooms situated in a former cardinal's residence which dates back to 1860. Around the year 1910 an Art Nouveau wing was added to the main building. The rooms are simply and tastefully decorated.

The Rubenshof is centrally located on the Amerikalei in "Het Zuid" with its mix of theatres, galleries, boutiques and all kinds of places to go out. On a few minutes walking distance you find the museum of fine art, the museum of contemporary art and the museum of photography.

The Rubenshouse ("Rubenshuis"), Grote Markt, the Cathedral, the birdsmarket ("Vogeltjesmarkt"), the river Schelde and almost all other places of interest are easily to be reached by foot. Beside, there are good tramconnections with for example the Central Railway Station and the Grote Markt. Hotel Rubenshof is situated in an old building with the consequence that rooms are not equal in size. There are small and large rooms, rooms with shower and toilet and rooms only with a washbasin (shared shower and toilet in the hall.)

The Rubenshof has an almost completely original Chinese Room and Art Nouveau breakfast room dating back to 1910 with beautiful wood carvings and stained-glass windows. Striking Art Nouveau buildings in the neighbourhood are among other things the house with the boat in the Schildersstraat and the Rudolf Steinerschool in the Volksstraat.

You'll find a fairy-like Art Nouveau neighbourhood at the Berchem Railway Station around the Cogels en Osylei. It's also likely that you find an original piece of Art Nouveau in one of many antique shops in the Kloosterstraat, the street that connects "Het Zuid" with the old city.
